| Abstract |
I report on an on-going effort to extract quantum functionalities from silicon. This Korea-USA collaborative effort with SNU teams nucleated from a pursuit of single-photon emission in silicon. It has expanded into a number of new and intriguing possibilities – e.g. negative differential resistance, bilayer exciton emission, and even negative capacitance. While fundamental in nature, these mechanisms may enable useful applications in RF, laser, and compute-in-memory.
