[Abstract]

Electroluminescent quantum dots (ELQDs) have been highlighted as next-generation display materials due to their excellent luminescence properties, high tunability, and high chemical/physical stability. A number of synthetic strategies for core/shell and surface ligands revealed the improved performance of ELQDs. In particular, the surface ligands play important roles in i) the selection of processing solvents, ii) dispersion stability, iii) determining the distance between QDs,3 iv) controlling surface defects, v) controlling QDs’ electronic structure,4 and vi) charge injection and transport in devices. Long aliphatic chains have been applied to increase the dispersibility of the QDs in organic processing solvents. This talk highlights our recent progress in designing surface ligands for high-performance ELQDs.
