ESPARK research group in MSE developed bioinspired nacre-like advanced materials
with ceramic brick – amorphous alloy mortar structure though the co-working with prof. Ritchie in UC Berkeley. Je In Lee, Chae Woo Ryu and Jin Yeon Kim in the Research Group, inspired by high wettability of Zr-base metallic glass melt with alumina, fabricated bioinspired hybrid materials with complex nano-hierarchy structure though pressureless liquid process. The results will give us guidelines for the development of high strength/toughness materials for high temperature application.
